First Look and Premiere Date Announced for Everybody Still Hates Chris

15 years after the original sitcom about Chris Rock’s childhood concluded its four-season run on The CW, “Everybody Still Hates Chris” is back. Comedy Central announced that the adult animated series, a revival of the Rock-narrated “Everybody Hates Chris,” will premiere on Wednesday, September 25th at 10pm ET/PT. Chris Rock will executive produce and voice “Adult Chris,” narrating the story of his teenage self. This young version of Chris will now be voiced by Tim Johnson Jr., known for his roles in “Saturday” and “Fright Krewe,” replacing Tyler James Williams.

The network released a first-look image showcasing an animation style similar to “Star Trek: Lower Decks.” Both series are produced by CBS Eye Animation Productions and animated by Titmouse.

Original cast members Terry Crews and Tichina Arnold return to voice Chris’s parents. Julius, Chris’s father, is a gentle giant with a strong work ethic and a miserly approach to life. He grew up very poor and knows the cost of everything down to the penny. He maintains two jobs to support the family and even takes on a third job when he’s off work. Rochelle, Chris’s mother, is smart and strong-willed with a nurturing nature, but she can be hot-headed when it comes to her kids. She tolerates no nonsense and frequently quits jobs.

The series also features Ozioma Akagha as Chris’s feisty baby sister, Tonya, who has the face of an angel and the heart of a demon. She often gets along with their middle brother Drew but jumps at any chance to get Chris in trouble. Terrence Little Gardenhigh voices Drew, the golden child of the family who epitomizes Black Excellence. He’s handsome, athletic, and much cooler than his older brother, Chris. Gunnar Sizemore voices Greg, Chris’s only friend at school who is girl-obsessed and status-conscious, raised by a single dad.

Executive producers include Chris Rock via Chris Rock Enterprises, Sanjay Shah as showrunner, “Everybody Hates Chris” co-creator Ali LeRoi, Michael Rotenberg of 3 Arts Entertainment, and Dave Becky. From Titmouse, the animation studio behind “Big Mouth” and “Beavis and Butt-Head” revivals, executive producers are Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio, and Ben Kalina.

“Everybody Still Hates Chris” premieres on September 25th on Comedy Central and will be available for streaming on Paramount+.
