First Trailer for Death in Paradise Spin-Off ‘Return to Paradise’ Released

Death in Paradise has spawned a new spin-off show, and the first trailer is finally here! Return to Paradise shifts the setting from the Caribbean and the Cornwall-based home of Beyond Paradise to Down Under, featuring a new lead detective.

The trailer introduces Mackenzie Clarke, the franchise’s first female lead detective, returning to her hometown of Dolphin Cove, Australia. She’s greeted with a cold reception from the locals, still resentful of her leaving her ex-fiancé, Glenn, at the altar six years ago.

The show’s synopsis describes Mackenzie as having no other job options and a knack for solving mysteries. She reluctantly joins the police team at Dolphin Cove. Driven to crack cases, Mackenzie won’t rest until she gets the culprit in cuffs. Her tenacity and work ethic might eventually win over her new colleagues and the townspeople of Dolphin Cove.

Set to air on Australia’s ABC channel in September, there’s no word yet on its UK or international distribution—so interested viewers should stay tuned for updates!

Anna Samson, who plays Mackenzie Clarke, shared a glimpse of the show’s poster on Instagram, captioning it: “Paradise is coming soon! We loved making this Aussie whodunnit; we hope you love the mystery in the bloody sunshine as much as we do.”

She also posted another photo with her co-stars, saying: “I got to spend the last three months with these three lads. I love them more than I can say. We wrapped our show this week, and my heart is broken that they will no longer be contractually obliged to spend time with me.”
