Flava Flav Offers Jordan Chiles a Bronze Clock Necklace Amid Medal Dispute

Jordan Chiles’ bronze medal controversy has sparked significant support from USA gymnastics fans, celebrities, and her teammates, including Simone Biles and Sunisa Lee. The latest to offer encouragement is Flava Flav, who has come forward with a unique and heartfelt gesture as everyone awaits the verdict on Chiles’ appeal.

After hearing the news that Chiles’ medal might be revoked, the Long Island rapper took to social media platform X to extend a special message. “Ayyy YOOOO @ChilesJordan, imma make you a BRONZE CLOCK NECKLACE,” he posted. “And that’s something NO ONE else has,!!! Hit me up my girl,,, I gotchu,!!!” He even attached a gif of himself dressed in red, white, and blue cheering for Team USA from the stands.

Chiles had earned her place on the podium last Monday (August 5) after her coach submitted an inquiry regarding her floor routine score. Her initial score of 13.666 had placed her fifth, but after the inquiry, her score increased to 13.766, moving her up to third place. The Romanian Gymnastics Federation subsequently filed a complaint with the Court of Arbitration for Sport, arguing that the inquiry was made after the one-minute deadline. If upheld, this complaint would mean Chiles would need to return her bronze medal.

The USA Gymnastics team is staunchly defending Chiles, appealing the decision on August 11 by submitting video evidence. The video reportedly shows Coach Cecile Landi’s inquiry request being made within 47 seconds of Chiles’ score being published. As of now, a decision on the appeal has not been reached.

PARIS, FRANCE – AUGUST 5: Women’s Balance Beam medalists, from left, silver medalist Simone Biles of Team United States, gold medalist Rebeca Andrade of Team Brazil, and bronze medalist Jordan Chiles of Team United States at Bercy Arena during the Paris 2024 Olympics on August 5, 2024.

Flava Flav’s generous spirit has been evident throughout the 2024 Paris Olympics. Besides his support for Chiles, he also paid Olympian Veronica Fraley’s rent and sponsored the US women’s water polo team. Speaking about his sponsorship of the water polo team, he explained to NPR, “And when the women aren’t in the water playing water polo and everything, you know, they’re home, working active jobs – one, two and three jobs. These girls are out here busting their butt to make the United States look good. So when they’re out here playing and practicing, it takes them away from their work. So I said to myself, why not step in and try to help these girls out?”
