Four Men Charged in Connection to ‘General Hospital’ Actor Johnny Wactor’s Death

On Monday, charges were officially announced against four suspects involved in the fatal shooting of “General Hospital” actor Johnny Wactor, which occurred in May. This tragic incident has drawn significant attention and concern from the community.

The individuals charged include Robert Barceleau and Sergio Estrada, both 18 years old. They face serious charges, including one count of murder, attempted robbery, and grand theft. Another teenager, Leonel Gutierrez, also 18, is charged with attempted robbery and grand theft.

The fourth suspect, Frank Olano, 22 years old, is facing more extensive charges, including three counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property, and being an accessory to murder.

Johnny Wactor, 37, was tragically shot on May 25, shortly after finishing his shift at a bar. According to police reports, he was ambushed in the early morning hours while walking to his car. At the time, the suspects were reportedly tampering with his vehicle, using a floor jack, and attempting to steal the catalytic converter.

Witnesses recall that just before the shooting, Wactor had been with a female colleague. In a heroic act, he stepped in front of her to protect her, demonstrating his caring nature and instinct to shield others from harm. Friends have shared details about the incident, with Wactor’s friend, Colin Flynn, stating that the suspects were masked and pulled a gun during the attack. Flynn noted, “Johnny literally stood in between himself and his colleague,” underscoring Wactor’s bravery in the face of danger.

After an extensive investigation, law enforcement successively identified and arrested the four individuals believed to be involved in Wactor’s death. The news of these arrests brought some relief to the actor’s family and loved ones, who have been advocating for justice since the incident occurred.

In a statement following the arrests, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass emphasized the importance of holding the perpetrators accountable for their actions. She stated, “We must ensure that those who are responsible for this brazen and heinous act are held fully accountable,” reflecting the deep community outrage surrounding this case.

For months, Wactor’s family and friends have been vocal in their demand for swift action to bring those responsible to justice. During a press conference in June, Wactor’s friend, Micah Parker, described the profound loss felt by those closest to him, saying, “I’m here because one of the best men – if not the best man – I’ve ever known, was tragically and brutally taken from this earth.” He highlighted the extensive impact of Wactor’s death on his family and friends.

Wactor’s mother, Scarlett Wactor, also voiced her despair and called for changes in the criminal justice system. In a recent press conference, she addressed officials, urging them to take meaningful steps toward reform. “It needs to start with LA. People watch you from across the country. And this is where change needs to start,” she remarked, emphasizing the city’s role as a focal point for wider societal change.

Scarlett Wactor shared the emotional burden of losing her son, revealing how grief has become an omnipresent part of her life. “I’m beginning to sound like a broken record, but grief is my constant companion,” she expressed, illustrating the deep personal toll that this loss has inflicted on her.

The tragic circumstances surrounding Johnny Wactor’s death have sparked discussions about safety, crime, and the need for justice reform. As the legal process unfolds, the community remains vigilant, hoping for justice for the actor and his loved ones.
