Fox News Criticized for Attacking Kamala Harris’ Cooking Videos

Conservatives are constantly searching for ways to critique Vice President Kamala Harris, and a recent target has been her cooking videos, as highlighted by Fox News. These videos feature Harris preparing a range of dishes, including cookies, tuna sandwiches, and masala dosa, on her YouTube channel. Although Harris hasn’t updated the channel since 2020, it has still managed to provoke strong reactions.

Julie Banderas, host of Fox News’ “Outnumbered,” expressed significant disapproval of Harris’s videos on Friday. While Banderas acknowledged the prospect of a female president as groundbreaking, she argued that Harris’s cooking videos do not benefit women’s perception in society. Banderas said, “Yes, it would be amazing to have a woman in the White House one day. That would be a huge glass ceiling shattered.” However, she quickly added, “But I don’t want to hear about a White House, uh, president cooking.”

As Banderas’s colleagues chuckled at her strong opinion, she further elaborated on her stance. “And especially a woman!” she exclaimed. “I don’t cook! And I proudly wear that badge. I am not domesticated whatsoever.”

This view from Banderas puzzled many, especially considering the conservative emphasis on traditional homemaking roles for women. Social media users were quick to point out the inconsistency in Banderas’s critique. Some even brought up examples of former Republican President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who was known to be handy in the kitchen.

Others suggested that the Fox News tech team may have inadvertently portrayed Harris in a positive light by airing clips of her and her husband, Doug Emhoff, wishing people a Merry Christmas. This sparked a debate on whether more “Cooking With Kamala” videos, possibly featuring her potential running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, might be appealing.
