Fullmetal Alchemist Cosplay Features Alphonse

You’d be hard-pressed to find an anime fan who doesn’t have at least some love for Fullmetal Alchemist. Routinely looked up to as one of the greatest anime stories of all time, the story of the Elric Brothers might not have any new projects in the works, but fans have not forgotten Hiromu Arakawa’s masterpiece. Among all the striking characters, Alphonse Elric stands out. Trapped in a suit of armor due to a botched alchemist experiment, Alphonse is one of anime’s most memorable figures. Now, a dedicated fan has revived Al with some impressive cosplay.

Al and Ed, the Elric Brothers, were quite close and always tried to maintain a positive outlook through their adventures. Unfortunately, their origin story is tragic. They lost their mother at a young age and attempted to resurrect her using dark alchemy. The attempt failed miserably, resulting in Edward losing an arm and a leg, and Al losing his entire body. Al’s soul ended up trapped in a suit of armor, an iconic look that any Fullmetal Alchemist fan would recognize.

Although it’s been a while since Fullmetal Alchemist has had new anime episodes, the series recently got a live-action treatment, thanks to Warner Bros Japan. The new trilogy of live-action films tried to capture the full essence of the Elric Brothers’ narrative. While not exhaustive, these films managed to offer a decent portrayal of the beloved story.

If you haven’t yet experienced the magic of Fullmetal Alchemist, you can stream both anime series on Crunchyroll. The manga is available through Yen Press. The manga publisher offers a captivating description: “Alchemy: the mystical power to alter the natural world; something between magic, art, and science. When two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, dabbled in this power to grant their dearest wish, one of them lost an arm and a leg… and the other became nothing but a soul locked into a body of living steel. Now Edward is an agent of the government, a slave of the military-alchemical complex, using his unique powers to obey orders… even to kill. Except his powers aren’t unique. The world has been ravaged by the abuse of alchemy. And in pursuit of the ultimate alchemical treasure, the Philosopher’s Stone, their enemies are even more ruthless than they are…”
