Gabrielle Union’s Family Beach Photoshoot Highlights Daughter Kaavia as ‘Demure’ Princess

Gabrielle Union, Dwayne Wade, and their daughter Kaavia enjoyed a delightful beach day, perfectly capturing the essence of the “demure” trend.

On Aug 16, Union shared a series of photos on Instagram from the family’s sunny beach outing. The photos were captioned, “demure or nah? 😏”

The post beautifully showcases how the Union-Wade family is spending their summer. The series includes images of Union in an orange bikini, candid moments of her dancing and snuggling with Wade, and several shots of the family enjoying their time together. Union and her friends are also seen jumping off a boat into the ocean, and there’s even a video of mesmerizing fireworks.

However, it was their daughter Kaavia who stole the show with her ever-expressive face.

In one picture, Wade is seen basking in the sunlight with Kaavia, who also enjoys the sun while relaxing on the boat. Another close-up reveals Kaavia’s sassy expression with the caption “Can we help you?” Adding to the heartwarming collection, there’s a photo of Union cuddling with Kaavia against a stunning sunset backdrop.

A text overlay on one of the images reads, “it’s giving mindful, very cutesy, very demure.”

(In modern usage, “demure” signifies a lifestyle that is classy, kind, and mindful—a refreshing twist from its traditional meaning of being modest or reserved.)

Union and Kaavia truly epitomize the “demure” lifestyle, as these pictures vividly demonstrate.

For those unfamiliar, the You Got Anything Stronger? author and Wade welcomed their daughter Kaavia, now 5, via a surrogate in November 2018.

Union also serves as the stepmother to Wade’s three other children: Zaire, 22, Zaya, 17, and Xavier, 10. Additionally, Wade is the legal guardian of his nephew, Dahveon Morris, 22.

In a previous interview, Union shared the joy of creating the children’s book, Shady Baby, inspired by their daughter Kaavia.

“It’s been amazing. Inspired by our daughter, Kaavia, we wanted to create a children’s book that not only had a little Black girl as the main character but to also give the word ‘shady’ a more positive association, using it as her superpower, moral compass, and inner strength,” she explained. “As a family, we also understand the platform that we have and the importance of doing right for our community. That’s why we get involved in various initiatives to help give back to our community, whether it’s LGBTQ+ rights, advocating for diversity and inclusion in the workplace, or our Don’t Skip public health campaign.”
