‘General Hospital’ Star Shares Behind-the-Scenes Secrets

Josh Kelly, who plays Cody Bell on General Hospital, recently gave fans a unique behind-the-scenes look at Port Charles. This sneak peek included the creation process of an intense scene from Thursday’s episode. Here’s a closer look at what he shared.

On Instagram, Josh Kelly posted a video showing the GH crew gathered around a large pool within the studio. The video, accompanied by Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding Out For A Hero,” showed Josh diving into a mat in front of a blue screen. The video then transitioned to a tense moment where Cody Bell grabs James West, portrayed by Gary Fuller.

The official Instagram page for General Hospital captioned the video, “@justjokingjk will always be our hero.” Fans took to the comments to express their admiration for Josh Kelly.

“I’m def a Cody stan,” one user commented. Another wrote, “Love that u guys show behind the scenes. Just LOVE this show so much have for decades.” A third fan added, “GH is amazing!!! Writing, Directing and acting are phenomenal. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication to entertain us.”

Another fan praised Gary Fuller, calling him “a great little actor.”

However, while many fans appreciated the show, others felt that General Hospital has been “boring” recently. Some viewers were particularly upset about the writers’ decision to remove Blaze, portrayed by Jacqueline Grace Lopez, earlier this week.

Blaze’s character was fired, and reportedly, Jacqueline filmed her last episode of the soap opera. In the storyline, Blaze goes on tour after saying goodbye to Kristina, played by Kate Mansi. The two characters had dated for a while but split up, with Blaze deciding to travel post-breakup.

“The writers have to get it together,” one fan said, referring to the departure of Blaze’s character. Another viewer commented, “Don’t like the Drew and Willow storyline, the usual, older man, younger woman scenario. Boring.” A third added, “Another snooze fest.”

Additional complaints revolved around the Jagger storyline, with some fans calling it “a stupid story” and “a waste of time.”

Jacqueline Grace Lopez commented on her sudden firing, admitting she was surprised. “When you spend almost two years with this group, you start to feel like part of the fabric,” she shared. “I’m so grateful to Frank for asking me back. I am grateful to everyone I got to tell stories with, both in front and behind the camera.”

She also emphasized the value of her experience on the set of General Hospital. “Jobs come and go, but it’s the people you miss. I’m definitely going to miss this bunch,” Jacqueline concluded.

Overall, while the show continues to have a dedicated fan base, it is clear that the recent storytelling choices have sparked mixed reactions from viewers.
