George Clooney’s Bold Response to Quentin Tarantino’s Comment

It appears George Clooney is not particularly fond of Quentin Tarantino. While promoting "Wolfs," a movie he stars in alongside Brad Pitt—a frequent collaborator of Tarantino—Clooney responded sharply to recent criticisms from the acclaimed director.

During an interview with GQ, Clooney reminisced about working with Tarantino in "From Dusk Till Dawn." He said, “Listen, I did a movie with Quentin. He played my brother.” Pitt, also part of the conversation, praised Tarantino, calling him “pretty good” in the movie. Clooney, however, promptly retorted, “He was okay in it.”

The root of Clooney’s blunt comments soon became clear. He revealed that Tarantino had “irritated” him in a recent interview. Clooney took the opportunity to address the critique head-on.

“Quentin said some s**t about me recently, so I’m a little irritated by him,” Clooney shared. “He did some interview where he was naming movie stars, and he was talking about you, and somebody else, and then this guy goes, ‘Well, what about George?’ He goes, he’s not a movie star.”

Clooney elaborated, “And then he literally said something like, ‘Name a movie since the millennium.’ And I was like, ‘Since the millennium? That’s kind of my whole f**king career,’” he continued.

Despite his annoyance, Clooney acknowledged his gratitude for working with “great” directors, whether that includes Tarantino or not. He conceded that it’s difficult to create good movies without a strong director.

“So now I’m like, all right, dude, fk off. I don’t mind giving him st. He gave me s**t,” Clooney said. “But no, look, we’re really lucky we got to work with these great directors.”

He further discussed the importance of a good director and screenplay, noting that these elements keep a film alive. “Director and screenplay are what keeps you alive. And I learned that after doing some really bad films,” Clooney acknowledged. “You can’t make a good film out of a bad script. You can’t do it. You can make a bad film out of a good script. You can f**k it up.”

However, Clooney did not specify which movies he considered “bad,” leaving fans to speculate on which projects he might be referencing.

Brad Pitt, on the other hand, might have offered more praise for Tarantino due to his own experiences. Pitt received his first Oscar win for his performance in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," directed by Tarantino.

After starring together in the "Ocean’s" franchise, Brad Pitt and George Clooney are set to reunite in "Wolfs." Written and directed by Jon Watts, the movie will premiere in theaters on September 20 before being available on Apple TV+ on September 27. Watts is known for his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having directed the first trilogy of Tom Holland-led Spider-Man movies.

In "Wolfs," Pitt and Clooney portray two fixers who typically work alone but find themselves having to join forces on a particular job. The cast also includes Austin Abrams, Amy Ryan, Poorna Jagannathan, Zlatko Burić, and Richard Kind.

This release strategy mirrors that of another Apple TV+ title, "The Instigators," starring Matt Damon and Casey Affleck. Directed by Doug Liman, that film had a theatrical release on August 2 before hitting the streaming service a week later on August 9.
