‘GH’ Star Kirsten Storms Shares Shocking Accident Photo

General Hospital star Kirsten Storms horrified her fans this week with a photo posted on social media. In the black and white photo, she stood facing the camera with what looked like a horrible black eye. She later revealed that this happened when a coffee canister exploded in her face.

Here is what happened and why the photo is not as it seems.

General Hospital’s Kirsten Storms, who plays Maxie Jones, took to Instagram to show fans a shocking photo following an accident with a coffee canister. She appeared to have a terrible black eye in the photo. However, she described it as a funny “but not funny” story, suggesting it wasn’t as bad as it appeared.

Kirsten explained that she has opened several canisters of coffee over her life. For the first time, one exploded out of the container into her face. “I can say with certainty that I prefer my coffee brewed in hot water (or over ice),” she wrote. “Straight from the container doesn’t taste that good.” She also mentioned noticing a warning label on the lid after the incident.

It turned out that the black marks around her eye were coffee grounds, not a bruise. While the moment was surely traumatic, it was not as severe as the photo suggested.

Her fans shared their reactions in the comments:

  • “Been there with flour! You win for originality!”
  • “Damn, that coffee is strong. Maybe too strong.”
  • “I thought you were made up for a fight scene on GH! Naughty coffee!”
  • “Girl, I thought you got in a fight. Didn’t realize you got in a fight with a coffee can.”

It’s refreshing to see Kirsten Storms finding humor in this embarrassing moment. Recently, she has opened up about a mental health diagnosis that significantly improved her life.

Speaking to Maurice Benard on his podcast State of Mind two years ago, she disclosed that she received the same diagnosis as he did. Both have bipolar disorder and needed a diagnosis to understand and manage their condition.

“I experience anxiety frequently; I have bipolar 1,” Kirsten shared at the time. “I easily get frantic about things; I felt flustered, fear and stressed.” However, after her diagnosis and medication, she said, “My life literally just changed. I felt like a normal person.”
