Gil Ramirez Stays on ‘Golden Bachelorette’ as Joan Attends Senior Prom

The excitement surrounding the “Golden Bachelorette” has shifted as troubling news has come to light regarding one of the contestants. Joan Vassos, the show’s first senior bachelorette at 61, is still shining in her role, but the revelation of a legal issue has cast a shadow over the latest episodes.

After the inaugural episode captivated viewers by showcasing 24 suitors vying for Joan’s affection, legal documents emerged indicating that contestant Gil Ramirez, aged 60, has been the subject of a temporary restraining order due to allegations of emotional harassment dating back to May. The restraining order was dismissed in July for “lack of prosecution,” according to court records.

Following the emergence of this news, producers took action and “further edited” Ramirez’s already minimal screen time. Reports indicate that this decision was made after the legal issues were discovered during the show’s background checks and summer filming schedule. However, despite the edits, Ramirez still appears in at least the second episode, where he shares his life story and receives a rose from Joan, though he is not viewed as a strong contender for her heart.

Meanwhile, Episode 2 of the “Golden Bachelorette” introduced some lighthearted moments amidst the drama. The highly anticipated group date, which took a prom-themed twist, featured performances by Taylor Dayne. Contestants donned festive attire, with many embracing the quirky nature of a nostalgic prom while others opted to catch some rest.

One of the standout moments was when contestant Jordan, 61, shared his past date with Dayne, noting that she remembered their encounter. The merriment included Mark, 57, who humorously spiked the punch, and later on, contestants reflected on personal losses, with Charles L. discussing the passing of his wife with Joan, who also experienced loss. In a glowing moment, Jonathan, 61, shone as the “Prom King” due to both his impressive dance moves and a heartfelt story about being the only student of color at his high school.

In addition to the group activities, one-on-one dates continued to add excitement, such as a charming outing at Disneyland featuring insurance executive Chock, 60. Meanwhile, Dan, 64, earned a rose after impressing Joan with his talents during a talent show.

Lighthearted moments, however, have not been without their own controversies. The previous season had faced humorous debates over the effects of guacamole, while this season seemed to be unveiling a new scandal revolving around snoring. Contestants Gregg and Pascal found themselves at odds over nightly disturbances, which created some comedic tension within the group.

Among the memorable contestants was Mark Anderson, who has charmed audiences as a “Hot Dad” figure. Sporting a striking blue tuxedo, the 57-year-old garnered attention not just for his outfit but for his smooth pickup lines and a romantic moment with Joan that resulted in a notable kiss.

Despite the lively atmosphere, not all contestants managed to secure a lasting spot on the show. Jack, 68, known for his exuberant personality and cannonball skills, exited the mansion too soon, leaving behind a trail of laughter and applause as he bid farewell to the remaining contestants. His notable performance, complete with witty remarks about cooking, showcased his vibrant character but perhaps was a bit too much for Joan’s taste.

In addition to Jack, a few others did not receive roses and left in the latest episode, including Bob, 66, a chiropractor, and Michael, 65, a retired banking CEO.

Despite the challenges faced by the contestants, the excitement of the “Golden Bachelorette” continues to unfold, blending romance, nostalgia, and some unexpected twists.
