Glen Powell Shares How His Parents Sweetly Involved Themselves in His Films

Glen Powell’s movies are undeniably a family affair.

The “Twisters” actor, who appeared on the “Today” show Wednesday, revealed that he believes his parents, Glen Powell Sr. and Cyndy Powell, have made appearances in “every single one” of his movies.

“They’ve made it in since ‘Spy Kids [3-D: Game Over],’” Powell shared with host Hoda Kotb.

While promoting the standalone sequel to 1996’s “Twister,” Powell mentioned that there’s a “great sequence” where his parents show up in a scene set at a rodeo.

“They’re right behind Daisy Edgar-Jones and I,” Powell noted, as a clip of him and his “Twisters” co-star played on the show. “You’ll be able to see them here in a second. Yeah, they’re right behind us there… Look at that.”

Powell’s parents also snagged a cameo in “Anyone But You,” a romantic comedy featuring their son and Sydney Sweeney. Last year, they appeared as airplane passengers in the film.

In December, Powell told Entertainment Weekly that his father was the “real method actor” during a scene where he was asleep, while Powell himself struggled to stay in character as Sweeney performed “gymnastics” over his face.

“He’s the Daniel Day-Lewis of sleep acting. There was not a false beat in that performance,” Powell said proudly, adding that his mother delivered an “iconic look” in the scene as well.

On Wednesday, outside the “Today” show, the two showed support for their son, with Powell posting a photo of his mom holding an “I changed Glen Powell’s diapers” sign, and his dad holding a sign that read “Glen Powell is our force of nature.”

Previously, Powell’s parents showed similar support at the premiere of his movie “Hit Man” back in May, bringing along signs that lovingly poked fun at their son.

Cyndy Powell’s sign read “Stop trying to make Glen Powell happen,” while her husband’s sign humorously declared, “It’s never gonna happen.”

Powell told “Entertainment Tonight” that his parents are known for “kind of trolling” him. He added, “I don’t read every tweet, but my parents read tweets—so if you’re talking shit, know that my parents are reading those tweets.”
