Glen Powell, Twisters Cast React to David Corenswet’s Superman Casting

The cast of Lee Isaac Chung’s “Twisters”, including Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Brandon Perea, showed great enthusiasm for David Corenswet being cast as the new Superman in the DC Universe.

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Perea, the “Twisters” cast displayed their excitement about Corenswet’s casting. Filmed during the production of “Twisters”, the video captures key cast members jumping for joy before Perea amusingly drops the phone.

“David, congrats!!!” Perea yelled as the “Twisters” cast celebrated. “That’s our Superman, baby! I’m gonna try to fly!”

This heartwarming moment highlights the camaraderie among the “Twisters” cast, showcasing their support for each other.

In July 2025, David Corenswet will debut as Superman, marking the beginning of the new DC Universe under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Gunn, known for his work in the rival Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), has written and directed the movie. The film will also star Rachel Brosnahan, Isabela Merced, Nicholas Hoult, and Nathan Fillon.

This will be the first solo Superman movie since 2013’s “Man of Steel”. Henry Cavill originally portrayed Superman in Zack Snyder’s DCEU, but despite appearing in several films, he never got a direct sequel.

Gunn and Safran are likely hoping Corenswet’s portrayal of Superman will serve as the foundation for the DCU’s first phase, aptly titled Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.

“Twisters” is a standalone sequel to the 1996 film “Twisters” which starred Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt. The sequel’s story was developed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) and the script was penned by Mark L. Smith.

The plot follows Kate Carter (Daisy Edgar-Jones), a young storm chaser who has been out of the game due to a traumatizing experience. She is later recruited by her former teammate Javi (Anthony Ramos) to return to storm chasing.

Throughout her journey, she encounters Tyler Owens (Glen Powell), a social media influencer who documents his storm-chasing adventures. A rivalry develops between the two, but they eventually unite due to the escalating tornado threats. Brandon Perea also stars as Boone, a member of Tyler’s crew.

Since its release, “Twisters” has been a moderate box office success, grossing nearly $350 million worldwide. The film earned $81.2 million during its opening weekend domestically and has so far amassed $248 million in the U.S., along with $98.7 million from overseas markets.

This film serves as another stepping stone for Powell’s career. Known for his role in “Top Gun: Maverick” as Lieutenant Jake “Hangman” Seresin, Powell has continued to grow his stardom. He recently starred in “Hit Man”, a movie he co-wrote with Richard Linklater, as well as “Anyone but You”, a romantic comedy featuring Sydney Sweeney.

“Anyone but You” was one of the year’s biggest hits, earning over $220 million during its theatrical run and leading to a sequel being greenlit.
