The 30-year-old from New Jersey, who was recently eliminated from Jenn Tran’s season of The Bachelorette, has been selected as the star for the 29th season of The Bachelor, according to TVLine. This makes Ellis the second Black Bachelor in the history of the series, following Matt James in Season 25.

ABC describes Ellis as “a self-proclaimed mama’s boy” whose infectious smile and unwavering positivity brighten every room he enters. The former professional basketball player now works as a day trader. When he’s not busy with the world of finance, he enjoys cheering for the Lakers, bowling, and singing at karaoke nights.
