Haikyu’s Timeskip Animation Confirmed by Staff

Haikyu!! fans eager to see the time skip before the anime concludes are in for a treat. The creators behind the beloved series have seemingly confirmed that “everything” will be animated before the grand finale. Currently, Haikyu!! is in production for the second film in a new set of movies aimed at wrapping up the anime. The first film, Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle, showcases the Nationals match between Karasuno and Nekoma. Fans had been anxious about whether the next and final film would continue with the match between Karasuno and Kamomedai.

During a special panel featuring Production I.G., WIT Studio, and Signal MD at Anime Expo 2024, an attendee posed an important question. They asked if the much-anticipated time skip arc would be animated, given where the next movie plans to pick up. Through a translator, the panelists teased that “everything will be animated” regarding this significant portion of Haikyu‘s final chapters. While the details remain vague, this announcement has generated considerable excitement among fans.

For those not in the know, Haikyu!! introduces a time skip following Karasuno’s final match in the finals. To avoid spoilers, specific details of the last match won’t be disclosed here. However, it begins with Chapter 370 of Haruichi Furudate’s original manga and continues through the series’ conclusion. This extensive final arc reveals the future endeavors of Shoto Hinata and other characters after leaving Karasuno. Fans have long hoped that the anime wouldn’t finish without covering this crucial final step.

The post-credits scene in Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle sets the stage for the Karasuno vs. Kamomedai match. This match could potentially make up the entire final film, much like how the Nationals match did in the first. Additionally, there are several other memorable matches in the manga that occur before the series comes to an end. If “everything” is indeed animated, the final film will have a lot of ground to cover to satisfy the fans’ expectations.

As of now, Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle has not announced a digital or streaming release date. However, fans can catch up with all four seasons of the TV anime, which are currently available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
