Hailey Van Lith Shares Significant Personal News

After entering college as one of the most sought-after recruits in the country, TCU’s Hailey Van Lith has showcased just how impactful she can be throughout her career.

The former five-star recruit from the 2020 class started her career at Louisville where she was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team and two First-team All-ACC teams. She opted to transfer to LSU ahead of the 2023-24 season, which also happened to be the year after they won a title. While they weren’t able to repeat as champions and Van Lith transferred to TCU, she didn’t leave LSU empty-handed.

Van Lith took to Instagram on Saturday to announce that she had officially received her master’s degree from LSU.

Her former teammate and current Chicago Sky star, Angel Reese, made sure to let Van Lith know how excited she was for her in the comment section.

“yesss babe!!! so proud 😘,” wrote Reese.

Van Lith’s academic achievement may have been a bit more difficult than people realize. As revealed in an interview with USA TODAY, Van Lith was finishing her degree at LSU while starting her pursuit of her next master’s degree at TCU.

On top of the dual master’s programs, Van Lith was also in the process of helping Team USA win a bronze medal in the 3X3 basketball at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“I’m finishing my master’s in business at LSU and I’m starting my master’s in liberal arts at the same at TCU,” Van Lith said earlier in August. “So doing that together…and it’s been a process but hopefully it’ll work out and I’ll graduate in a couple of days from LSU.

“Diploma and a medal,” Van Lith added. We’re educated and sporty here.”

Van Lith will headline a TCU team that started 14-0 on the year before they were ravaged by injuries, leading to them dropping six straight and forfeiting two games. To continue their season they were forced to host in-season walk-on tryouts to just add to their roster.

During her time at Louisville and LSU, Van Lith averaged 14.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. When she made the move to Baton Rouge, Kim Mulkey had her play point guard instead of off the ball like she was at Louisville, which may have contributed to a bit of her struggles.

Van Lith’s WNBA draft stock has taken a bit of a hit as of late, but a strong swan song in Fort Worth could get her back into first-round discussions.
