Halle Berry Seeks Sole Legal Custody from Olivier Martinez

Halle Berry has reached a breaking point in her ongoing custody battle with ex-husband Olivier Martinez. She now seeks sole legal custody of their 10-year-old son, Maceo, claiming the prolonged conflict is seriously affecting the child.

According to new legal documents obtained by TMZ, Berry asserts that Martinez’s “turbulent and detrimental behavior” has markedly impacted Maceo. She gets specific, stating the boy has significant behavior and learning issues that Martinez allegedly refuses to address.

Berry contends that Martinez has become an obstacle in securing necessary help for Maceo. She claims he prioritizes soccer over academics, resulting in the child falling behind in school. Berry notes that Martinez has declined to get a tutor for Maceo, as it would interfere with soccer practice.

Additionally, Berry states that when Maceo spends extended periods with Martinez, he returns home angry and combative. She alleges that Martinez discusses their parental conflicts with the boy, putting his own spin on these issues, which has negatively impacted Maceo.

Berry acknowledges she is not perfect, but insists she has been an exemplary parent. She argues that Martinez, on the other hand, has consistently failed in his parenting duties.

Currently, the ex-couple shares joint physical and legal custody of Maceo, but Berry is now petitioning the court for sole legal custody. She believes this is the only way to ensure Maceo receives proper education and therapeutic support. Berry is asking to have the authority to make crucial decisions regarding these aspects of her son’s life.

The custody battle has been ongoing for years. The couple separated in 2015 after two years of marriage, but their divorce was only finalized last August. Their disputes have largely revolved around parenting issues.

Berry reveals that she has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to resolve these conflicts privately. However, she now feels she has no other option but to go public, filing documents with the court to lay out the situation for the family law judge.
