Man’s best friend takes center stage in Hallmark Mystery’s latest original movie, Jazz Ramsey: A K-9 Mystery. Hallmark Media, capitalizing on the success of other dog-filled adventures such as Lassie and Hudson & Rex, continues to charm audiences who love a canine co-star!

Hallmark Channel has a rich history of featuring animals in numerous movies, including beloved titles like Christmas with Tucker, The Nine Lives of Christmas, Winter Love Story, and more recently, Guiding Emily and My Christmas Guide. Adding to this impressive list is Jazz Ramsey: A K-9 Mystery. Here’s a closer look at what you can expect from the new film.

If you’re in need of a crime detection dog, look no further than Jazz Ramsey, portrayed by Rachel Skarsten. Jazz not only trains some of the best dogs in the business but also mentors the next generation of keen minds at the Astor Academy for Girls through their forensics club. While running a demonstration with one of her trained crime-sensing dogs, Jazz stumbles upon a murder victim on the deserted third floor of the school. What started as a demonstration soon transforms into a full-fledged crime scene bustling with police.

Detective Nick Kolesov, played by Corey Sevier, heads the major crimes unit and happens to be Jazz’s ex-boyfriend. He is assigned to investigate the case. Because Nick is also an alumnus of the school, he enlists Jazz and her canine team to help gather crucial evidence. As the investigation deepens, suspects begin to pile up, centering around the death of an unpopular and overly strict teacher. With the help of Nick and her canine partner, Zeus, Jazz is determined to uncover the truth.

The movie stars Rachel Skarsten as Jazz. Skarsten is perhaps best known for her role as Queen Elizabeth I in The CW series Reign. She has also made guest appearances on shows such as Wynonna Earp, Imposters, and Little Men, which also starred Corey Sevier. For Hallmark fans, she has been a familiar face in several films, including The Royal Nanny alongside her Reign co-star Dan Jeannotte, Timeless Love, and Christmas Island.

Corey Sevier stars as detective Nick Kolesov. Sevier has been acting professionally since he was seven. He initially gained recognition for his role as Timmy in the ‘90s version of Lassie. He has had recurring roles in Cedar Cove and Mistresses and starred in several films including Northern Lights of Christmas, Road Trip Romance, and The Dog Lover’s Guide to Dating.

This film marks Dillon’s debut as Zeus, the crime-sensing dog.

Jazz Ramsey: A K-9 Mystery will premiere on Friday, August 2, at 9 p.m. ET on Hallmark Mystery. Additionally, the film will air multiple times throughout the month, including:
