Has Noel Gallagher Already Written a New Oasis Album?

Last year, when an Oasis reunion seemed as improbable as Joe Biden dropping out of the presidential race, Noel Gallagher shared on the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast that he had written 40 songs during the Covid lockdown. Some of these tracks appeared on “Council Skies,” his latest album with High Flying Birds, leaving two full albums worth unreleased. “There is an acoustic album, very stripped back, which I started recording recently before going on tour. And then there’s a heavily guitar-based stadium rock album,” he revealed.

Noel’s initial plan was to release the acoustic album (which hasn’t been released yet) followed by the “euphoric guitar album.” However, now that an Oasis reunion is officially on the cards, plans might change. If Noel needs a singer for that stadium rock album, Liam Gallagher might just be the perfect fit.

In a new episode of Rolling Stone Music Now, the unexpected announcement of the Oasis reunion is discussed, along with the potential for a new album and more insights. Andy Greene joins host Brian Hiatt to delve into how Oasis seems to have grown in popularity in the U.S. during their hiatus.

Reflecting on the reunion, Liam told Rolling Stone Music Now in 2017, “Before we get back together—if we ever get back together—we’d have to become brothers and friends again. If that happens, once we start hanging out and talking to each other respectfully, we might go, ‘Let’s take the band out for a spin and go on tour.’ I know Noel wants to do it, and so do I. I know he doesn’t want to support U2 in a third of a stadium when he could headline it with his brother.”

Liam continued, “I’d rather be talking about an Oasis album than a Liam solo album, and I know Noel feels the same. We’re better together, and both of us know that.”
