Exciting News for Hazbin Hotel Fans

  • Fans rejoice at San Diego Comic-Con 2024: Two more seasons of Hazbin Hotel confirmed.
  • Creator Vivienne Medrano stresses the importance of patience for Season 2’s release.
  • Attendees received a sneak peek into the upcoming season, focusing on characters Charlie and Niffty.

It was a thrilling weekend for fans of Hazbin Hotel at San Diego Comic-Con 2024. The popular adult animated musical series has been renewed for two additional seasons. The show, available on Prime Video, became an instant hit, leaving fans anxious for news about Season 2. Creator Vivienne Medrano revealed that, despite the good news, there is still no set release date for the second season.

Medrano emphasized, “Animation takes time. My attitude is always like the first season. I know it’s worth the wait. It’s a great season.” She shared this during an interview with Perri Nemiroff in Collider’s Media Studio. Although a specific release date for Season 2 is still unknown, fans were treated to an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming season during the Collider Ladies Night panel at SDCC. Viewers got to see voice actor Erika Henningsen, who plays Charlie Morningstar, in action. The sneak peek highlighted Charlie’s dramatic interactions with the character Niffty, the chaotic maid portrayed by Kimiko Glenn.

With Seasons 3 and 4 now confirmed, Medrano appears to be on track to achieve her long-term hopes for the series. Earlier this year, she mentioned in an interview with Nemiroff her dream for Hazbin Hotel. Comparing to her all-time favorite series, BoJack Horseman, she mused, “My favorite show went to six, so six would be cool! The real answer is as many as they’ll give me, forever—forever and ever because there could always be more.”

The journey to success has been long and rewarding for Medrano. The concept for Hazbin Hotel originated from her sketches in middle school, initially focusing on the Radio Demon Alastor, voiced by Amir Talai. Medrano shared, “Alastor I’ve had since middle school at the earliest iterations…Most of what he is now kind of came about in late high school through college, but he stayed pretty much the same throughout.”

Originally an animated pilot on Medrano’s YouTube channel, the show quickly gained traction, amassing 111 million views. This monumental success caught the attention of Prime Video and A24, who decided to pick up the pilot for a full series. Hazbin Hotel shattered streaming records upon its debut, becoming Prime’s most-watched animated series launch. The show’s captivating Broadway cast and veteran voice actors ensured its songs dominated the Billboard Charts for several weeks.

Currently, Season 2 of Hazbin Hotel is in development. While there isn’t a release date yet, the confirmation of Seasons 3 and 4 offers plenty of excitement and anticipation for the show’s devoted fanbase.
