Heartbreaking Details About the Actor’s Life

Alexandra Daddario spent nearly a dozen years securing roles by 2014, but she hadn’t yet achieved major stardom. That changed dramatically when she landed a small part in the first season of “True Detective.” She played the mistress of Woody Harrelson’s character, a role that generated significant buzz, albeit not always for the reasons she might have hoped.

Upon accepting the role, Daddario discovered that her character needed to perform a nude scene. She conveyed her initial reservations in a conversation with Interview magazine, explaining, “It was the first time I was nude for anything, so I was definitely unnerved by that, but I think any implied misogyny is a result of defining the characters.” When asked about the audience’s reaction to the scene, Daddario responded, “It’s very flattering. But it’s not something I try to think about too much.”

Nude scenes can significantly impact an actor’s career, sometimes adversely. However, for Daddario, her choice to appear nude on camera was beneficial. In a July 2021 interview with Collider, she recalled, “I didn’t know what to expect. And then of course that episode aired and my manager called, and I’ll never forget it. … All of a sudden, everyone in town wanted to meet with me, and then I booked ‘San Andreas.’ So no, I would have never expected that from that role. It was tactical, but not that tactical.”
