Helen George Enjoys Sunshine in Denim Shorts After Call The Midwife Update

Helen George’s schedule is more packed than ever. Fresh off working on the Christmas special of “Call The Midwife,” the actress, known for her role as nurse Trixie Franklin, is currently engrossed in filming the 14th season of the popular drama series.

Taking a brief respite from her busy filming schedule this weekend, the 40-year-old actress shared a sunny snap on Instagram. Donning a bright red T-shirt and denim shorts, Helen radiated joy as she enjoyed some well-earned downtime, holding a glass of wine in her hand.

Helen, a fan favorite on “Call The Midwife,” brought comfort to fans who were worried about her character’s fate. The 13th season finale had left viewers in suspense as Trixie talked about reuniting with her husband, Matthew, in New York, leaving her future uncertain.

However, a delightful twist came when the show’s official Instagram account confirmed that Helen was filming scenes for the upcoming 14th season, indicating that Trixie wasn’t leaving Poplar anytime soon.

On July 16, the “Call The Midwife” Instagram page shared photos of Helen alongside co-stars Jenny Agutter and Megan Cusack. The caption read, “What better place to show you our progress than in the Nonnatus House dining room – perhaps the location most central to our drama, and the room where all our stories really happen.”

The post further explained the effort that goes into filming a dining room scene, stating, “A dining room scene takes longer to film because there are usually lots of people present. Each character will have their moment for dialogue or a reaction to someone else’s words. In an ensemble drama like ours, every character has something to say – even if they’re not speaking.”

The update concluded with a teaser: “In the episode featured in this photograph, there is MUCH for our Nonnatuns to talk about. Call the Midwife returns with a new Christmas Special and Series 14 in 2025.”

While Helen is slated to return, her co-star Olly Rix, who played her on-screen husband Matthew, has not been sighted on set. Reports suggest Olly has joined another BBC show, “Casualty.” According to The Sun, he will portray a new surgeon, though details about his role remain scarce.

Interestingly, Olly, who had been close friends with Helen during their collaboration, recently unfollowed her on social media. The two had supported each other through their respective breakups; Helen had ended her relationship with her partner of seven years, Jack Ashton, with whom she shares two daughters. Olly, on the other hand, had split from his longtime girlfriend, Natasha Fagri.

In a surprising turn of events, Olly seems to have stepped back from their friendship. This week, he was spotted in the Cardiff Bay area near BBC Wales’ Roath Lock studios, the filming location for “Casualty.”
