Hit Thriller “Yellowjackets” Coming to Netflix

One of the most chilling thrillers on television is making its way to Netflix. Yellowjackets, the Showtime original series that captured the attention of TV enthusiasts when it premiered a couple of years ago, narrates the gripping story of a group of teenage girls who become stranded in the wilderness after a plane crash, and how their choices continue to haunt them two decades later. Having been a hit through its first two seasons, with a third one still on the horizon, Yellowjackets now has the chance to reach a broader audience on Netflix.

On Sunday, September 1st, Netflix announced that Yellowjackets would be added to its U.S. streaming roster in a month’s time. Beginning October 1st, the first season of Yellowjackets will be available to stream on Netflix, aiming to replicate or even surpass the recent success of another Showtime product, Your Honor, which spent weeks as one of Netflix’s most-watched titles.

The narrative of Yellowjackets unfolds in two timelines. The first timeline follows a high school girls’ soccer team whose plane crashes deep in the Canadian wilderness, leaving them to fend for themselves over the span of 19 months in the 1990s. The second timeline focuses on the present-day lives of the survivors, who are still haunted by the decisions made and the experiences faced during their time in the wilderness.

For now, only the first season of Yellowjackets is being added to Netflix. This means that any new fans captivated by the series who wish to continue the story will still require a subscription to Paramount+ to watch Season 2.

While Yellowjackets won’t hit Netflix until October, the beginning of September brought a wave of new content to the streaming service. On September 1st, numerous movies joined Netflix’s lineup, including titles such as Field of Dreams, Magic Mike, Sonic the Hedgehog, 300, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, and the first three Jaws films.
