Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie Missing from ‘TODAY,’ Where Are They?

This week, viewers noticed the absence of two popular hosts, Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie, on the “Today” show. Filling in for them were Sheinelle Jones and Craig Melvin. The absence of these hosts hadn’t been explained until later in the week. Here’s what we know about their whereabouts and when they might return.

On Thursday, Craig Melvin finally addressed the situation. He informed viewers that Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie were taking some time off to spend with their families. Both women have young children preparing to return to school, and they likely wanted to enjoy the last days of summer break with them.

They aren’t the only TV personalities taking time off before the Labor Day weekend. Over at “Good Morning America,” Robin Roberts, Michael Strahan, and George Stephanopoulos have also taken personal time to enjoy with their families during the final days of summer.

Hoda Kotb, who celebrated her 60th birthday earlier this month, took some time away from “Today” to mark the special occasion with her daughters, Haley and Hope. She even threw a birthday party at her home in Upstate New York, sharing pictures and expressing gratitude for the birthday wishes.

While Hoda has maintained a relatively low profile on social media, Savannah Guthrie shared several snapshots from her family vacation earlier this week. She posted a montage of photos from their time at a vacation resort, captioned “Holding onto the last of summer.”

Savannah also took some time off earlier in August to celebrate her daughter Vale’s 10th birthday. She shared a heartfelt tribute on social media, featuring some of her favorite pictures of Vale from the past year, expressing profound love for her daughter.

Fans may recall that Savannah Guthrie was also missing from “Today” last week while covering the National Democratic Convention in Chicago for NBC. Savannah often travels extensively to cover significant events both within the U.S. and internationally. Just last month, she traveled to Paris for the Olympics.

Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie have been co-hosts on “Today” since 2018, with a strong bond both on and off the set. According to the show’s schedule, both women are expected to return after the Labor Day holiday.

As fans look forward to their return, it’s clear that family time is a top priority for both Hoda and Savannah as they make the most of the final days of summer vacation.
