Hoda Kotb from ‘Today’ Feels Homesick Covering Paris Olympics

Even though Hoda Kotb will be away from her daughters while in Paris, she has found creative ways to stay connected with them during this time. The Today hostess is dedicated to maintaining that bond with her little girls, Hope and Haley, in spite of the distance.

To ease the stress of separation while she’s in Paris, Hoda has devised a fun craft activity to do with Hope and Haley before her departure.

During an episode of Today With Hoda & Jenna, Hoda shared with viewers her thoughtful plan. She and her daughters will create a “Love You Loops” paper chain. “I do a loop a day where we hide a little something like stickers or hair ties, and then they know how many days are left,” Hoda explained. Jenna joked that there would be some pretty long loops, given how long the team will be away.

The Today team will be stationed in Paris for the entire duration of the Olympics, which spans from July 26 to August 11. This means over two weeks of separation from her children. It is likely that during this period, Hoda’s daughters will stay with their father. Hoda and her ex-fiance Joel Schiffman adopted Haley in 2017 and Hope in 2019.

Despite the upcoming separation from her daughters, Hoda is brimming with excitement about the monumental occasion she will be part of. On July 1, she posted photos on social media, capturing moments with the USA gymnastics team. “Still feeling so hyped from last night’s gymnastics Olympic trials! Next stop: Paris ❤️” she captioned one of her posts.

In a segment with Jenna Bush Hager, Hoda shared her pre-trip excitement: “I have to do all the things you have to do before you get on a plane, but I’m excited,” she enthusiastically mentioned. Among her to-do list, she noted she needed to get her nails done and acquire an outlet converter.

She humorously shared a moment she had with Jenna, where she expressed concerns about having the appropriate attire for the trip. “I said to Jenna, ‘I don’t know if I have the clothes,’” she recalled. Jenna promptly replied, “I’m getting it. I’m done,” and within 15 minutes, Hoda found all Americana-themed cool, fun outfits waiting for her upstairs, much to her delight. “I’m packing it up,” she laughed.
