How many episodes are in a season of Daryl Dixon?

AMC has truly taken a massive leap with the creation of three direct spinoffs from The Walking Dead, the iconic apocalyptic series. With Dead City, Daryl Dixon, and The Ones Who Live, the universe of the series is significantly expanded, letting the stories travel far beyond the original narrative boundaries. These new shows continue to weave fresh chapters into the lives of the characters first introduced in The Walking Dead. This fall, the second season of Daryl Dixon is set to premiere on AMC, and the series has already been renewed for a third season. But just how many episodes will each season include?

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon premiered on AMC and AMC+ in September 2023, with Norman Reedus reprising his longstanding role as Daryl Dixon. This time, Daryl’s adventures take him overseas to France. Initially, traveling to France was nowhere near Daryl’s mind. However, after encountering some nefarious characters, he was forced onto a ship and consequently washed up on French shores.

The first season of Daryl Dixon kicked off with six episodes, continuing the trend seen in other TWD series. While six episodes might seem too few to tell a comprehensive story, the creators did a commendable job in fleshing out Daryl’s journey and the new characters he meets.

For the second season, titled The Book of Carol, the narrative reintroduces Carol Peletier, played by Melissa McBride. Carol, a familiar face from the flagship series since its beginning, embarks on a quest to find her best friend, Daryl. Her search starts in Maine, Daryl’s last known location. Simultaneously, the series continues to follow Daryl’s quandary in France as he grapples with challenging decisions.

The second season of Daryl Dixon is slated to premiere on September 29 on AMC and AMC+, marking just over a year since the debut of the first season. Like its predecessor, it will consist of six episodes.

Showrunner David Zabel confirmed in an interview with Collider that the third season, recently announced at the 2024 SDCC panel, will also follow the six-episode format. The upcoming season promises to bring a fresh dynamic by being both set and shot in Spain. This exciting new location will build a path for a potential fourth season, which Norman Reedus teased during an interview with Radio Times ahead of SDCC.

Fans can look forward to the return of several characters from the first season in the upcoming installment of Daryl Dixon. Melissa McBride will also return, reprising her beloved role as Carol Peletier.

Additionally, there has been a new casting announcement. Manish Dayal, renowned for his part in The Resident, will join the series. He will portray a character named Ash, who crosses paths with Carol in Maine and seemingly aids her in her mission to find Daryl, as hinted by trailer footage.
