How Tammy Slaton Supported Amy’s Family During Her Arrest

After Amy Slaton’s run-in with the law at a zoo in Tennessee, her sister Tammy reportedly stepped up to help out her family like any loyal older sister would.

As previously reported, the “1000-Lb Sisters” star was arrested on Monday at the Safari Park in Alamo. Deputies responded to an incident where a guest was allegedly bitten by a camel. Upon arrival, “deputies were immediately overtaken by suspicious odors” they claimed were coming from the vehicle that Amy and her passenger, Brian Scott Lovvorn, were in.

When the initial report was made public, limited details were available. All law enforcement officials confirmed was that the 36-year-old TLC personality was arrested for an “illegal possession of Schedule I, illegal possession of Schedule VI, and two counts of child endangerment.”

At the time, it was unclear if the two counts of child endangerment charges were related to Amy’s sons, whom she shares with her ex-husband Michael Halterman—Gage, who turns four in November, and Glenn, two—and whether or not the initial call about a potential animal bite at the zoo had anything to do with her or her family.

Now, two days after the story first broke, People has learned that Amy’s two young kids were picked up by their 38-year-old aunt shortly after their mom’s arrest. It is presumed the children were in the car at the time of the incident.

The law enforcement source could not confirm whether Tammy, who lives in Kentucky, picked up the children at the zoo or later in the afternoon at the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office.

Amy was later released on a $10,000 bond on Tuesday afternoon alongside Lovvorn. The two were picked up by Amy’s brother, Chris Combs, and seen “holding hands” while leaving police custody, according to the outlet.

New reports also reveal that Amy did suffer an injury while at the zoo. ABC claims she was wheeled away from the location on a stretcher before she was booked at the local county jail. Photos obtained by TMZ show the depth of her gruesome gash.

While the zoo’s owner maintains a camel did not cause Slaton’s injury due to the apparent lack of bruising and clean slice, another zoo employee called authorities to report the incident as a camel bite, according to statements the local county sheriff shared with TMZ.
