Huma Abedin is engaged!

On Wednesday, the political staffer and vice-chair of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, 47, announced her engagement to billionaire Alex Soros, an investor and philanthropist. The couple shared the joyous news in a joint Instagram post.

“This happened…we couldn’t be happier, more grateful, or more in love ❤️ 😍 💍,” Soros, 38, captioned the announcement.

In the photo, the chairman of the Open Society Foundations is seen on one knee in front of a surprised Abedin, who reaches out for his hands while wearing a stunning, form-fitting white dress. Soros matches his now-fiancée in a light-colored suit.

It’s unclear exactly when the proposal took place, but it appears to have occurred on a terrace overlooking a large body of water.

Per Vogue, Soros popped the question to Abedin in late May at their shared New York City apartment, and the couple later celebrated in Italy with a larger party.

Vogue also shared the news on Instagram, revealing that Soros proposed “at home in New York City in late May” followed by a “formal celebration in Italy.”

The couple’s famous friends joined in the celebration and congratulated them on their engagement.

“Congratulations,” wrote The Bachelorette alum, Tayshia Adams.

“I’m crying .. I’m so so happy for you Alex ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,” replied Jeannie Mai.

In a report on Wednesday, Vogue also mentioned that the pair “met last fall at a mutual friend’s birthday party, where they quickly discovered their mutual interests in politics and public service.”

Abedin was previously married to U.S. Representative Anthony Weiner from 2010 to 2017, prior to his involvement in a cheating scandal. More recently, she was linked in 2022 to film and television actor Bradley Cooper, who is now dating supermodel Gigi Hadid.
