Hunter Biden has withdrawn a lawsuit against Fox News over the broadcast of nude photos and videos in a fictional “mock trial” show about his foreign business dealings, as revealed in a court filing by his legal team on Sunday.

The court document did not specify the reason for the voluntary dismissal. ABC News reported that Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, decided to drop the suit with plans to refile it targeting other defendants. This information was provided by an individual familiar with Hunter’s legal approach.

A spokesperson from Fox News Media explained to Axios that the company maintained their previous stance that the lawsuit was “politically motivated” and “devoid of merit.”

Legal representatives for Hunter Biden and Fox News, along with media representatives from Fox News, did not immediately respond to requests for comments.

In October 2022, Fox aired “The Trial of Hunter Biden: A Mock Trial for the American People” on its Fox Nation streaming platform. The series was removed in April of this year following legal threats from Hunter Biden’s attorneys.

Hunter Biden formally filed the lawsuit earlier this month.

The TV series portrayed a fictionalized trial of Hunter Biden, suggesting he committed illegal foreign lobbying and bribery, charges he hasn’t been formally accused of. The show included explicit photos and videos of Biden, as detailed in the lawsuit.

The suit’s dismissal occurred just hours after Joe Biden announced he would not be running in the 2024 presidential race, under pressure from members of his own party.
