John Mulaney has officially embraced fatherhood once again, becoming a proud “girl dad.” The comedian and actor, 42, and his wife, Olivia Munn, 44, welcomed their second child through a surrogate on September 14. Munn shared the exciting news on Instagram a week later, on September 22.

In a joyful Instagram carousel, Mulaney posted a heartwarming video of himself soothing his newborn daughter, named Méi June Mulaney. In the video, he gently tapped on her back to help her release air. Once she settled into his chest, he could be heard saying, “There you go,” as he comforted her. The carousel also featured two additional photos of the family. One captured the couple in the hospital with Méi, while another depicted them enjoying a peaceful moment by the ocean, alongside their two-year-old son, Malcolm.

Mulaney’s post celebrated the arrival of his daughter, stating, “Méi June Mulaney came into the world September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon. We stole so much stuff from the hospital. I love my little girl so much. Méi (pronounced may) means plum in Chinese 梅💜.”

His announcement came right after Munn shared her post, which echoed similar sentiments about their new bundle of joy. Munn expressed her feelings, noting, “I had so many profound emotions about not being able to carry my daughter. When I first met our gestational surrogate, we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding, I knew I had found a real-life angel. Words cannot express my gratitude that she kept our baby safe for nine months and made our dreams come true.”

She described her daughter as “my little plum, my little dragon,” sharing how her heart has “exploded” with joy. The couple’s journey into parenthood has had its emotional highs and lows, and Méi’s arrival marks a significant and joyful milestone for them.

Munn and Mulaney began dating in 2021 and tied the knot in July 2024. In March 2024, Munn revealed her battle with breast cancer, which she had been diagnosed with in 2023. Throughout her treatment, which included five surgeries like a double mastectomy and full hysterectomy, Mulaney remained by her side.

A heartfelt post from Munn acknowledged Mulaney’s unwavering support during such a challenging time. She expressed gratitude for the moments he spent researching her treatments and being present for her before and after every surgery.

Munn’s emotions resonated deeply, as she wrote, “I’m so thankful to John for the nights he spent researching what every operation and medication meant and what side effects and recovery I could expect. For being there before I went into each surgery and being there when I woke up, always placing framed photos of our little boy Malcolm so it was the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes.”

Mulaney responded to Munn’s powerful words in the comments, expressing his love for her and gratitude for her strength. He wrote, “Thank you for fighting so hard to be here for us. Malc and I adore you. ❤️.”

The couple’s journey has been marked by both struggles and triumphs, and the arrival of their daughter marks a new chapter in their lives as they embrace parenthood once more.
