I wish I could be the father you needed

Rob Schneider is extending an olive branch to his daughter, Elle King.

The “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo” actor, 60, issued an apology to the “Ex’s & Oh’s” singer, 35, after she shared details about their “toxic” relationship.

“I wanna just tell my daughter, Elle, I love you and I wish I was the father in my 20s that you needed,” he said on the Tucker Carlson Network Wednesday.

“And clearly I wasn’t and I hope you can forgive me for my shortcomings. I love you completely. I love you entirely and I just want you to be well and happy — you and your beautiful baby, Lucky. I wish you the best. I feel terrible and I just want you to know that I don’t take anything you say personally.

When host Tucker Carlson asked Schneider how hard it was to not “attack” his daughter back, the actor replied, “If you love somebody completely, you just — I love her and all I want for her is to be happy and to heal from this.”

Page Six has reached out to a rep for King for comment but did not immediately hear back.

The stand-up comedian’s apology comes days after King revealed that her dad sent her to “fat camp” when she was a child.

“I was, like, a really, really heavy child. My dad sent me to fat camp,” she revealed on Bunnie Xo’s “Dumb Blonde” podcast.

“And then I got in trouble one year because I sprained my ankle and I didn’t lose any weight. Very toxic and very silly.”

The “Drunk” songstress then shared that she stopped speaking to Schneider for “four or five years” due to their differing opinions on social issues.

“I disagree with a lot of the things that he says. You’re talking out of your ass and you’re talking s–t about drag and, you know, anti-gay rights and it’s like get f–ked,” she said.

“He’s just talking out of his ass and I want to use this opportunity to say that I disagree. I do not agree with what he says.”

The “Ex’s & Oh’s” singer also revealed that she stopped talking to the stand-up comedian for a few years due to their differing opinions on social issues.

Schneider has faced backlash for his political views in recent years.

In July 2021, the “Hot Chick” star called COVID-19 vaccines “experimental gene therapy.”

“Just say no… And keep saying no,” he tweeted at the time. “Over Half of the US population is continuing to say no to this unapproved experimental gene therapy!”

And in June, Schneider was booed during his comedy set at a hospital fundraiser in Canada for allegedly making “transphobic, misogynistic and anti-vax” jokes.

“Everyone in the room was groaning, saying, ‘What is going on?’ Like, whispering to themselves.

“Not a single laugh at times. It was just very apparent how uncomfortable everyone felt and how unacceptable the things he was talking about were.”

Despite the criticism, the “Daddy Daughter Trip” actor told TMZ he is “not changing my material or apologizing for my jokes to anybody,” adding that he has had enough of “this woke bulls–t.”
