LOS ANGELES (AP) — The iconic brown felt fedora donned by Harrison Ford in the second Indiana Jones film has fetched a remarkable $630,000 at an auction, as announced by movie and TV memorabilia company Propstore on Friday.

This particular hat, seen in the 1984 film “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” had been anticipated to sell for between $250,000 and $500,000, according to its online listing.

Originating from the personal collection of the late stunt performer Dean Ferrandini, the fedora had a dual history. Not only did Ferrandini own it, but he also wore it while standing in for Ford as the beloved archaeologist, Indiana Jones, who has an infamous aversion to snakes.

Making sure the fedora stayed put during the filming was an “ongoing challenge,” according to Propstore’s expert. Foam inserts were used to ensure a snug fit.

The hat was created by the Herbert Johnson Hat Company in London, crafted from sable-colored rabbit felt.

In addition to the Indiana Jones hat, the auction saw other memorable pieces sold. An Imperial scout trooper’s white “biker scout” helmet from 1983’s “Return of the Jedi” sold for $315,000. A ghost costume from the 1996 horror movie “Scream” also stood out, selling for $270,900.

Notable stars featured in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” include Kate Capshaw as nightclub singer Willie Scott and Ke Huy Quan as the endearing Short Round.
