‘Industry’ Star Harry Lawtey Cast as Early Harvey Dent in ‘Joker: Folie À Deux’

Warner Bros.

Harry Lawtey, best known for his role as Rob on HBO’s Industry, steps into an intriguing new role in the highly anticipated sequel Joker: Folie à Deux. In this film, Lawtey trades his finance suit for another type of suit entirely, embodying Gotham’s district attorney Harvey Dent.

Lawtey’s portrayal of Dent, a character rooted deeply in DC Comics lore, has generated significant excitement. The new clip released reveals Lawtey playing a young Dent during his early days as district attorney, a period before his transformation into the notorious villain Two-Face. Fans are eagerly awaiting to see how this character’s arc unfolds in the movie.

Joker: Folie à Deux acts as a follow-up to Todd Phillips’ 2019 film Joker. The sequel dives into the life of Arthur Fleck, now a patient at Arkham State Hospital where he encounters Lee, a music therapist. The duo embarks on a unique love story entrenched in a mutual delusion, adding a romantic twist to the gritty backdrop of Gotham.

In the trailer, Lawtey’s character, Harvey Dent, vehemently declares, “Arthur Fleck is a monster. He knew exactly what he was doing. His depraved acts of violence led to riots by his followers, and they are still willing to commit acts of violence in his name.” This powerful statement sets the stage for the conflict and drama that viewers can expect in the sequel.

Though it remains unclear just how substantial Dent’s role will be throughout the movie, one can only speculate about the impact he might have. With the character’s rich history in the comics, fans are hopeful for a significant and engaging portrayal, hoping for better outcomes than what Lawtey’s previous character Rob experienced in Industry.

Excitement continues to build as Joker: Folie à Deux approaches its release date. Fans won’t have to wait much longer, as the film is slated to hit theaters on October 4th.
