Infinity Defense Attraction Coming to Disneyland

The multiverse’s mightiest heroes are assembling at Disneyland Resort. Disney announced during its D23 convention in Anaheim that Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park is set to double in size with two new E-ticket attractions, both featuring Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. The new additions include “Avengers: Infinity Defense,” which involves the Avengers facing off against a multiverse variant of Thanos named King Thanos, and the newly announced “Stark Flight Lab,” a simulated flight in Tony Stark’s robotics lab.

The ride “Avengers: Infinity Defense,” first revealed at the D23 Expo in 2022, will have an original plot inspired by characters and locations from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to Disney Portfolio Executive Creative Director Scott Trowbridge, “Global technology that allows the Avengers to jump between worlds has gone missing, and King Thanos is using it to wreak havoc across multiple worlds. It’s gonna be all hands on deck as we assemble the Avengers to take on his army.”

Guests at Avengers Campus will be transported to iconic locales such as Asgard, Wakanda, and New York City, assisted by heroes from across the multiverse. Characters like Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Panther, the Dora Milaje, and the giant-sized Ant-Man will battle Thanos’ Outriders, reminiscent of scenes from “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame.”

Construction on the new Avengers Campus attractions will begin in 2025. Concept art reveals that the expanded area will be situated behind Avengers Headquarters, which currently features an action-packed rooftop show and a “Heroic Encounter” area where guests can meet various Marvel heroes. Among the rotating roster are Captain America (both Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson), Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, Ant-Man, the Wasp, and new additions like Deadpool and Wolverine.

The new rides, “Avengers: Infinity Defense” and “Stark Flight Lab,” will join existing attractions such as “Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!” and the interactive “WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure,” which have been key elements of the land since its opening in 2021. Additionally, Disney California Adventure will feature a new Avatar attraction inspired by “Avatar: The Way of Water” and the first-ever Disney Parks ride based on Pixar’s 2017 movie “Coco.”

Josh D’Amaro, Disney Experiences Chairman, said during the announcement, “Disney Experiences is embarking on an accelerated path of ambitious growth and innovation. With so many great Disney stories to tell, we’re excited to bring an unprecedented number of new projects to life in the near future.”

D’Amaro added that the newly announced projects are in “active development” and affirmed that “plans are drawn, dirt is moving.” Among the upcoming ventures are Disney Villains Land and two new Cars-themed attractions at Florida’s Magic Kingdom Park in Walt Disney World Resort, along with new “Indiana Jones” and “Encanto” attractions for Animal Kingdom.

Fans of Marvel and Disney parks have much to look forward to with these upcoming attractions, as the expansions promise to bring more immersive and thrilling experiences to Disneyland Resort.
