Ingrid Andress Cancels Tour Dates Following MLB Home Run Derby Mishap

After a troubling performance of the National Anthem at the MLB Home Run Derby, which led to country singer Ingrid Andress admitting she was intoxicated, Andress has decided to cancel several of her upcoming tour dates.

Earlier today, Andress had four tour dates listed on her schedule: July 17 at Nashville’s Cannery Hall, July 24 at Denver’s Globe Hall Live Music & BBQ, August 3 at Minneapolis’ Basilica Block Party, and October 4 at Inlet Lodge in Ocean City, Maryland for the ‘Country Calling’ festival. Currently, however, only the two festival dates remain on her official website.

A representative for Andress has confirmed to The Associated Press that her performances in Nashville and Denver have been canceled. Ticket buyers are being contacted by the venues regarding refunds.

Andress, aged 32, began her music career as a songwriter in Nashville, where she penned tracks for various artists across genres. Some of her notable songwriting credits include Bebe Rexha’s “Girl in the Mirror,” Halestorm’s “Conflicted,” and the internationally acclaimed “Boys,” which became a hit for British singer Charli XCX.

Refusing to stay behind the scenes, Andress signed a recording contract with Warner Nashville and Atlantic Records. Her debut single, Lady Like, gained significant traction, reaching the top ten on the Top Country Albums charts.

Andress’s major breakthrough came in April 2019 with the release of the single More Hearts Than Mine. The song climbed to the top five on most country music charts and propelled her to No. 1 on the Billboard Emerging Artists chart. It even reached No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100, maintaining its position on the list for an impressive 20 weeks.

In 2021, she collaborated with Sam Hunt to release “Wishful Drinking,” which became her second major hit. The track enjoyed a 20-week stay on the charts, peaking at No. 47. Her second album, “Good Person,” was released in 2022.

Ingrid Andress recently admitted on social media that she was intoxicated during her controversial performance of the national anthem at the MLB Home Run Derby.

“I was drunk last night,” she confessed on Instagram. “I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night.”

She extended her apologies, saying, “I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I’ll let y’all know how rehab is—I hear it’s super fun.”

Her fans are undoubtedly hoping she receives the help she needs. The national anthem is notoriously difficult to perform, and numerous artists have faced harsh critiques for their renditions in the past. For example, comedian and actress Roseanne Barr was widely criticized for her performance at a San Diego Padres game in 1990. More recently, Fergie’s rendition at an NBA All-Star Game was poorly received. Now, it appears Andress finds herself in a similar situation.
