Inside Abby Lee Miller and JoJo Siwa’s Relationship from Dance Moms

When Abby Lee Miller appeared on “The Unplanned Podcast” in July 2024, she shared her admiration for JoJo Siwa, emphasizing that the young star has “star quality.” However, the renowned dance instructor noted that Siwa’s distinctiveness set her apart from her peers — a trait Miller found challenging because she aimed for a unified dance group. Moreover, Miller remarked that Siwa’s homeschooling meant she missed out on certain social etiquettes typically learned in traditional school settings.

“So, the standing in line, taking your turn, raising your hand [things] you learn at school, she didn’t have,” Miller explained. She added, “So she would just blurt out questions in the middle of a conversation and interrupt adults when they were speaking. That’s the kind of stuff I had to crack down on her, and she learned.” Despite these challenges, Miller acknowledged that Siwa took those lessons to heart and worked hard to improve. Miller also praised Siwa’s exceptional skills as a solo dancer.

In a 2018 interview with People, Siwa expressed immense gratitude towards Miller, acknowledging that the dance instructor taught her not only the intricacies of dancing but also essential life skills such as table etiquette. Miller echoed this sentiment in a 2021 conversation with Entertainment Tonight, where she conveyed her pride in all of Siwa’s achievements. Additionally, she appreciated the unwavering support from Siwa’s family, especially during her own health challenges, and mentioned that she could always count on them.
