Deadpool & Wolverine has hit theaters and is smashing box office records. Audiences finally get to see Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) allying with Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) in a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie. Their characters are now firmly integrated into the MCU, making fans eager to find out when they’ll appear in future Marvel films beyond Deadpool 3.

Prior to the movie’s release, speculation was rife about Deadpool’s involvement in upcoming Avengers movies. The main goal of Deadpool & Wolverine was to introduce Wade Wilson to the MCU. Additionally, there was hope that Hugh Jackman would continue portraying Wolverine for a few more years, especially in anticipated films like Avengers: Secret Wars.

Now that Deadpool & Wolverine is screening, there’s no official word yet on the future appearances of the duo. However, Hugh Jackman seems eager for more Wolverine action, or he is delightfully teasing fans.

Jackman recently shared a teaser on Instagram, ending with the caption, “See you in 2058.” This makes sense if you’ve seen the movie. Watch the clip with sound to catch Deadpool whispering to Wolverine, “…till you’re 90.” This running joke from the film humorously predicts that Jackman will be portraying Wolverine until he is 90, which would be in 2058—the source of Jackman’s post’s brilliance.

This playful interaction isn’t definitive proof that Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine in upcoming MCU movies. Nonetheless, it demonstrates his enthusiasm, or perhaps just his love for keeping fans on their toes.

Jackman surely seems excited about the prospect of interacting with numerous characters, both from the Fox’s X-Men universe and the broader roster of Avengers and Spider-Man variants from the Sony Marvel universe.

Old MCU rumors predate Kang Dynasty morphing into Doomsday, suggesting Marvel’s plans to bring numerous characters into Secret Wars. The Avengers might need help from mutants and Spider-Man variants to tackle their greatest challenge yet. Initially, this was believed to be Kang, but recent rumors suggest the antagonist could be Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.).

A persistent rumor claims Jackman indicated he’d return post-Deadpool 3 if Wolverine could interact with RDJ’s Iron Man and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man. Specifically, the rumor posits Jackman told Marvel he’d play Wolverine in Secret Wars under those conditions.

Seeing Wolverine share a scene with Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and RDJ’s characters would be a dream come true for everyone involved. The actors likely want it, Marvel wants it, and MCU fans would be thrilled. This kind of crossover was previously unimaginable.

Marvel would be remiss not to try to make it a reality, even if it means investing significant resources to bring Jackman back. Given Marvel’s reintroduction of RDJ, it seems quite possible they could do the same for Wolverine.

At this point, everything remains speculative. The teams behind Deadpool & Wolverine haven’t confirmed whether Wade and Logan will return for more MCU adventures. While Deadpool 3 leaves several plot threads open for their potential return in Doomsday and Secret Wars, official confirmations from Marvel may take some time.

In the meantime, fans can expect a series of amusing teasers from Jackman and Reynolds as Deadpool & Wolverine continues its theatrical run.
