Israeli Airstrikes in Syria Result in Four Civilian Deaths, Reports Say

At least four civilians lost their lives following a series of Israeli airstrikes on the Hama countryside in Syria, according to reports from Syrian state media. The attacks reportedly targeted a significant military research facility near the city of Misyaf, resulting in multiple injuries.

Since the Hamas attack on October 7, which targeted Israeli civilians and military personnel, Israel has intensified its airstrikes on positions linked to Iranian-backed militias within Syria. These operations have also included strikes against the Syrian army’s air defense systems and various Syrian military forces.

A health official from the region, as cited by Syria’s state news agency, stated that 13 individuals sustained injuries from the airstrikes, with several of them suffering from severe wounds. Emergency services are actively engaged in transporting the injured to medical facilities.

According to two regional intelligence sources, the airstrikes focused on a prominent military research center linked to chemical weapons development situated near Misyaf. This facility is believed to house a team of Iranian military specialists who are involved in the production of various weapons.

Syria’s state media further reported the strikes resulted in two fires, which firefighters are currently attempting to control and extinguish.

There has yet to be any official comment from Israel regarding these particular strikes, as the nation typically refrains from addressing specific reports about its military actions in Syria.

In one of the most notable attacks on Syrian soil since the onset of the war in Gaza, suspected Israeli aircraft targeted Iran’s embassy back in April. That strike was reported to have led to the deaths of seven military advisers, including three high-ranking commanders from Iran.

The escalation of hostilities comes amid rising tensions in the region, as Israel continues to confront perceived threats from Iranian-affiliated groups stationed near its borders. The situation remains fluid, and further developments are anticipated as both military operations and diplomatic efforts unfold.
