Israeli Warplanes Strike Hamas in Humanitarian Zone, Causing Casualties

Israeli airstrikes targeted Hamas militants at a command complex located in a humanitarian area of southern Gaza, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). This operation, conducted early Tuesday, resulted in deaths and injuries among the Palestinian population, as reported by health officials.

The IDF stated that the airstrike was a direct response to Hamas militants operating within the Khan Yunis humanitarian zone. They accused the group of conducting assaults against Israeli troops and the state itself from this location.

In justifying the strikes, the IDF claimed that Hamas exploits civilian and humanitarian infrastructure in the region to launch its attacks on Israel. They emphasized that significant precautions—such as the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance—were taken to minimize potential harm to civilians in the area.

According to WAFA, the official news agency of the Palestinian Authority, the strikes caused destruction to tents occupied by displaced persons at the al-Mawasi refugee camp.

Palestinian health officials have reported that over 65 individuals were either killed or injured due to the attack. The civilian defense service commented, “A large number of martyrs and wounded were recovered, which include severe cases necessitating amputation. Our teams are still searching for those missing among the tents of displaced individuals.”

The situation remains fluid, and more developments are expected as authorities continue to assess the damage and respond to the ongoing conflict.
