J Prince Responds to YSL’s Lil Woody and Prosecutor Mentioning Him in Trial

J Prince isn’t too pleased with being mentioned in the ongoing YSL trial. On Monday (Aug. 26), the Rap-A-Lot Records founder took to Instagram to express his frustration with “fake-ass people” dropping his name.

Prince hinted that Young Thug is being unjustly targeted because he was inspired by a successful Black entrepreneur like himself. He went further, indirectly criticizing Fulton County Deputy District Attorney Simone Hylton by accusing her of “Black-on-Black racism.”

“Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to fake-ass people putting my name in their mouth,” Prince wrote. “But I still find it very interesting how some prosecutors will go above and beyond the call of duty to try and destroy a man’s life for being inspired by a successful Black entrepreneur like myself. Btw, Black-on-Black racism feels the worst. #freeyoungthug.”

The controversy arose from a clip showing the prosecutor questioning Lil Woody, whose real name is Kenneth Copeland, about his past statements where he admitted to lying to police officers. The prosecutor asked Copeland if he remembered Young Thug and queried whether he had cited J Prince as an inspiration. Woody’s response was, “I guess,” before admitting he didn’t even know who the Hip-Hop icon is. Copeland emphasized that he lied to law enforcement.

“I told you for the 10th time,” Lil Woody stated. “I’m gonna tell the police anything, and that’s what I did.”

In recent months, Lil Woody has repeatedly claimed he lied to the police about Young Thug’s criminal activities. Earlier in August, Copeland took the stand and explained his actions, stating, “This is what happened. The police kept locking me up for whatever they could. Every time I come out the door, the police was on me, and they keep bringing up Thug’s name. So what I did was to get ‘em off me, I said, ‘Thug did this. Thug did that. Thug,’ because I knew they were — I knew he didn’t do it.”
