Actor and comedian Jack Black canceled the ongoing world tour of his band Tenacious D on Tuesday after his bandmate Kyle Gass made a “highly inappropriate” remark regarding Saturday’s assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump.

Gass received backlash after he was asked to “make a wish” for his birthday during a show in Sydney, Australia on Sunday – the day after Trump was shot in the ear, with another man being killed at a rally in Pennsylvania.

“Don’t miss Trump next time,” Gass remarked.

In a statement on Tuesday, Black announced the cancellation of the rest of the band’s tour, stating he was “blindsided by what was said” by Gass at the show.

“I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form,” he wrote. “After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.”

Gass also released a statement on Tuesday, apologizing for his “highly inappropriate” remarks.

“The line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous, and a terrible mistake,” he wrote. “I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone. What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgment. I profoundly apologize to those I’ve let down and truly regret any pain I’ve caused.”

Following Gass’ remarks on Sunday, Australian Senator Ralph Babet called for Tenacious D to be expelled from the country.

“Tenacious D should be immediately removed from the country after wishing for the assassination of Donald Trump at their Sydney concert,” Babet declared. “I call on the Immigration Minister Andrew Giles to revoke their visas and deport them immediately. Anything less than deportation is an endorsement of the shooting.”
