Jagged Edge’s Brandon Casey Hospitalized After Serious Car Crash: ‘Should Be Dead’

Singer Brandon Casey of the R&B group Jagged Edge recently opened up about a near-fatal car accident that left him in the ICU for several days. The 48-year-old artist took to Instagram on Tuesday to express his deep gratitude and share details of his traumatic experience, accompanied by a photo of his patient sheet.

“I have to send a big thank-you to @grady.hospital. After being in the ICU for five days, I know the legendary Grady Trauma Center is everything it’s said to be – the best in the country. Y’all saved my life, and I’m forever grateful,” Casey wrote. “I’m so thankful to all you ladies who took care of me, nursed me, fed me, encouraged me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart – the most sincere thank you I can conjure up.”

Casey elaborated on his injuries, explaining, “I know people want to know, so here it is: broken neck, five broken ribs, skull fracture, scalp lacerations, and a bunch of pain all over my body.”

He continued, “But I’m going to be good, I promise y’all. God got me. It’s like something’s trying to take me off this planet, and God keeps telling them, ‘Nope, not him, not yet.’ All praises to the Most High, most awesome, most wonderful God. Thank you, Lord! From your loyal soldier.”

Later, Casey shared a photo of his severely damaged car to highlight the gravity of the accident. “I never post these types of pictures when delivering the news that I’ve been hurt because the people who really love me don’t play about me, and I don’t want to add to their fright over how I may be doing. But I’m just posting this so you know neither wreck was a fender bender,” he explained.

“I could be, probably should be, dead,” he added. “Oh, except for the big fact that God does protect his flock.”

This marks the second serious car accident Casey has experienced in less than a year. In September 2023, he shared another Instagram post showing a totaled car from a previous accident that he barely survived. “When you know God got you through it, you gotta say thank you. You gotta feel gratitude, not just speak it. Thank you, Father. I know I wouldn’t be here without your grace and mercy. I’ll probably never be the same, but I’m so grateful I’m here. Thank you, Jesus!” he captioned the earlier post.

Brandon Casey is a founding member of Jagged Edge, a group he started with his twin brother, Brian Casey. The band also includes Richard Wingo and Kyle Norman. They released their debut album, A Jagged Era, in 1997 and have since released ten studio albums, with the most recent being A Jagged Love Story, in 2020.
