Jake Paul Demonstrates His Blazing Hand Speed

Jake Paul showcased his impressive hand speed as he prepares for his upcoming fight against Mike Perry on July 20.

Paul’s preparation has faced some setbacks. Initially, he was scheduled to face Mike Tyson. However, Tyson had to withdraw due to an inflamed ulcer. That bout is now rescheduled for November 15, with Perry stepping in for the July fight. Paul remains confident, with a recent three-fight winning streak following his only loss to Tommy Fury. Wins over Nate Diaz, Andre August, and Ryan Bourland have helped restore his reputation.

Paul’s performances against August and Bourland were particularly commendable as he appeared focused on fighting professional boxers. However, the decision to face Perry is seen as a step back. Perry, a former UFC fighter, left the organization in 2021 after losing four of his last five fights. Despite this, Perry has found renewed success in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), where he holds a 5-0 record, making him a notable figure in the sport.

Perry was in discussions to fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a boxing match on the Paul-Tyson card but turned it down due to insufficient purse. Perry’s only boxing match was in 2015 against Kenneth McNeil, where he suffered a knockout loss. As both fighters gear up for their bout, Paul displayed his hand speed in shadow boxing footage, aiming to impress against Perry.

Should Paul win this face-off, he has offered Perry a chance to fight again in the Professional Fighters League (PFL) in an MMA bout. Paul made a similar offer to Nate Diaz after defeating him via unanimous decision last year, with a $10 million proposal that was later increased to $15 million by PFL Chairman Donn Davis. Although Diaz didn’t accept, he challenged Paul after defeating Jorge Masvidal in their boxing match. Paul’s current focus is on an MMA showdown with Perry, who prefers bare-knuckle fighting.

“I’m down, when I beat Mike Perry in boxing, we can run it in MMA. I want an MMA fight; the [PFL] smart cage is right there. Once I start in MMA, my wrestling background will come into play, and I think I’ll be a very dangerous MMA fighter as well. So, Mike Perry can get it,” Paul expressed.

Perry responded, “Cap! Why not bare-knuckle? Why not box bare-knuckle? I’ll take your back; wrestling and jiu-jitsu are not something you just keep in your back pocket.”

This fight presents a significant opportunity for both competitors. They are set to make history as the first fighters to headline on Netflix, gaining exposure to a vast audience. This crossover appeal will significantly boost their brands.
