James Cameron & Stars Reveal Title for ‘Avatar 3’ at D23

Avatar 3 is officially titled Avatar Fire and Ash.

James Cameron, joined by stars Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington, took the stage to reveal concept art of the fire Na’Vi people. No footage was shown during this reveal.

“I came 7,000 miles from New Zealand for this,” Cameron told the full house at the Honda Center, unveiling the title in a brief snippet. The filmmaker stated he wasn’t ready to show any clips just yet.

“Holy crap, that’s a lot of people. Is this epic or what? Most epic event for most epic fans,” he continued, expressing his enthusiasm for the event.

Cameron described the third installment as having “high emotional stakes.”

“New cultures and settings… You’ll see more of Pandora the planet than you ever saw before. The new film isn’t what you expect, but it’s definitely what you want,” Cameron added.

Worthington mentioned, “We’ve been hard at work at it,” referring to the upcoming chapter.

The movie is set to hit cinemas, including 3D screens, on Dec. 19, 2025.

One of Cameron’s grandest public appearances was at CinemaCon 2016 during the 20th Century Fox panel, where he announced there would be four Avatar sequels, not just three.
