Jamie Lee Curtis Shares Her Specific Request for Film Crew Members

Jamie Lee Curtis has shared a unique request she has for crew members while working on set. The Oscar-winning actor, 65, recently announced her return as Tess Coleman in a Freaky Friday sequel alongside Lindsay Lohan. Curtis believes her approach helps to bridge the gap between well-known cast members and the production crew.

Speaking to Kevin Hart on his podcast, Gold Minds, Curtis revealed that she always feels uneasy not knowing the names of the people she works with on set. To address this, she asks everyone to wear name tags.

“There’s something really uneven about our position on a set, on a movie, in this arena. You guys know our names, we don’t know yours. There’s something inequitable to me about that,” she explained.

The True Lies star further elaborated, “On a movie set, if we were all working together, we would all be wearing name tags so that tomorrow when we came in, I would be able to then say ‘good morning [Sabine]’ without even [a] thought because I’ve learned her name.”

Curtis emphasized the importance of this practice, saying, “I just want it to be equitable because it’s an important thing. It’s art – there isn’t hierarchy in art. It’s supposed to be a group of people.”

Back in 2021, while promoting Halloween Kills, Curtis shared a touching moment involving her name tag practice. During her final scene, the entire crew stood silently with their hands behind their backs, each wearing a name tag that read, “We are Laurie Strode.” This was a heartfelt homage to Curtis’s character, Laurie Strode, who she has portrayed since 1978.

Production is now underway for the Freaky Friday sequel, reuniting Curtis and Lohan 21 years after the first film’s release in 2003. In the original film, Curtis played the role of Lohan’s mother, a character who swaps bodies with her daughter following an intense argument.

Lohan shared her thoughts on their long-standing relationship, “Jamie and I have stayed in touch over the years. You know how they say when you have a best friend or someone you’re really close with? If you cannot see them for years and years, but when you see them again, it’s like you never separated.”
