Jana Duggar Confirms Past Relationship and Breakup with Stephen Wissmann

The Duggar family once emphasized the concept of “courting” over “dating” as a way to avoid heartbreak. However, over the years, some Duggar hearts have been broken. Officially, the family has only disclosed one failed courtship, but the Duggar children have experienced at least three breakups. Jana Duggar and her now-husband, Stephen Wissmann, had a relationship that didn’t work out initially before deciding to reconnect and eventually marry.

Despite the family’s promotion of courtship on their television shows, it appears that more traditional dating was happening in the background. Jana Duggar, the eldest daughter, has revealed that she dated several men and asserted that being single didn’t mean she lacked romantic experience. She maintained, however, that none of these relationships became too serious. Recently, Jana confirmed that one of her past relationships was with Stephen Wissmann. She has not disclosed the names of other men she dated over the years.

In an interview with People, Jana Duggar disclosed that she and Stephen Wissmann had dated in the past but broke up because they weren’t compatible at the time. Their breakup lasted for years, yet they stayed in touch intermittently. Eventually, they decided to rekindle their relationship, realizing that they still “enjoyed” and “appreciated” each other.

For keen followers of the Duggar family, Jana’s confirmation of her past with Stephen Wissmann is not entirely surprising. In early 2021, just months before Josh Duggar was arrested for possessing and receiving child pornography, 34-year-old Jana was seen in photos with the Wissmann family. This led many followers to speculate that she was dating someone in the family, although Jana did not confirm these suspicions at the time.

Fans were convinced the relationship was serious when Jana and Stephen were spotted together at Justin Duggar’s wedding in Texas in 2021 and later at a Fourth of July festival. However, their connection seemed to dissolve shortly thereafter, leading many to believe they had split up.

Jana and Stephen’s public appearances together dwindled a few months after Josh Duggar’s arrest. This timing led some to theorize that Stephen ended the relationship due to the legal troubles surrounding Jana’s family. However, the pair couldn’t avoid each other for long, especially since Stephen’s sister married Jana’s brother in March 2022.

Now, Jana Duggar and Stephen Wissmann are married and planning their future together. Jana will be relocating to Nebraska to build her new life with Stephen.
