Japanese Trailer for Junji Ito’s Uzumaki Anime Released

Junji Ito’s classic Uzumaki manga is making its highly anticipated anime debut this Fall, and Adult Swim is setting the stage for its premiere with a new Japanese language trailer! Uzumaki was announced as one of the new Adult Swim original anime projects a few years back and has become one of the most eagerly awaited releases. With each new update, the excitement has only grown, and fans don’t have much longer to wait. The anime is slated for its debut later this September.

Adult Swim plans to air both Japanese and English language versions. Initially, it will premiere on Toonami with English subtitles. This has been the focus of the latest trailer released during the recent broadcasts on the Adult Swim programming block. You can watch the new Uzumaki trailer below, courtesy of a spot on X by Swimpedia.

Directed by Hiroshi Nagahama (Mushishi, The Flowers of Evil) with music by Colin Stetson (Hereditary), Junji Ito’s Uzumaki anime premieres on Adult Swim’s Toonami block on Saturday, September 28th at 12:30 AM EST. It will feature the original Japanese audio with English subtitles. The series will also be available for streaming on Max the following day. The English dub will air with an encore broadcast every Thursday at 12:30 AM, starting October 3rd.

Adult Swim gives a glimpse into the series: “‘Let’s leave this town together,’ says Shuichi Saito, a former classmate of Kirie Goshima, a high school girl from Kurouzu-cho. In this town, everything from strange whirlwinds to billowing crematorium smoke to the residents themselves is transforming into spirals. Eyes spin, tongues spiral, and bodies twist unnaturally. As the curse of the spirals spreads, Kirie tries to escape from Kurouzu-cho’s growing chaos, but will she succeed?”

If you’re eager to dive into Uzumaki before the anime’s debut, you can find Junji Ito’s original manga series on Viz Media’s Viz Manga app with a paid subscription.
