Jared Leto Rides Disney World’s Tron Lightcycle Power Run for the First Time

Tron: Ares star Jared Leto is creating a buzz by engaging in his unique promotional activities for the upcoming film. Recently, Leto posted a video on Instagram where he could be seen enjoying an evening walk through Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, and experiencing the Tron Lightcycle ride. Enthusiastically, he exclaimed, “We gotta go, we gotta do this, holy sh*t! I feel like I’m home!” The footage also showed Leto feeding his ‘need for speed’ while riding the adrenaline-filled coaster.

Leto has recently wrapped up filming on Tron 3, so he undoubtedly has reasons to celebrate.

Disney’s Tron Lightcycle ride attraction at Walt Disney World has an interesting background. In 1982, Disney made history with Tron, the first film to mix live-action with computer-generated visuals and backlit animation. The film inspired video games, comic books, an animated series, and the 2010 sequel Tron: Legacy. Additionally, it inspired the creation of the Disney theme park attraction.

The Tron Lightcycle ride allows visitors to leave the real world behind and join Team Blue on an exciting quest across the Grid—a dark, computerized world without horizons from Tron. Riders can climb aboard their very own Lightcycle and embark on a high-speed adventure, racing against the Grid’s most formidable Programs. The aim is to cross through eight Energy Gates and secure victory for their team. The Tron Lightcycle/Run is among the fastest coasters at any Disney theme park globally.

Tron: Ares, the much-anticipated next installment in the franchise, follows a highly sophisticated Program named Ares. This Program is sent from the digital world into the real world on a perilous mission, marking humanity’s first encounter with A.I. beings. Joachim Rønning, known for films like Kon-Tiki and Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, took over directing responsibilities from Legacy‘s Joseph Kosinski. Rønning has stated that Tron 3 will build upon the legacy of cutting-edge design, technology, and storytelling established by the original groundbreaking film 40 years ago.

Tron: Ares boasts an impressive cast, featuring Jared Leto (Suicide Squad), Greta Lee (Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse), Evan Peters (X-Men: Days of Future Past), Hasan Minhaj (Haunted Mansion), Jodie Turner-Smith (Star Wars: The Acolyte), Arturo Castro (Narcos), Cameron Monaghan (Gotham), and Gillian Anderson (The X-Files). The production team includes Sean Bailey (Tron: Legacy), Jeffrey Silver (The Little Mermaid), Justin Springer (Oblivion), Emma Ludbrook (Morbius), Jared Leto, and original Tron writer-director Steven Lisberger. Russell Allen, known for his work on Disney’s The Lion King and Snow White re-imaginings, is on board as the executive producer.

The combination of a star-studded cast, advanced technology, and an already dedicated fanbase makes Tron: Ares one of the most awaited movies. Jared Leto’s proactive engagement and efforts in promoting the film further add to the excitement surrounding its release.
