Jason Biggs Celebrates 25 Years of ‘American Pie’ with Netflix Baking Show

After 25 years, Jason Biggs has embraced one of his most unforgettable roles for some light-hearted promotion.

The American Pie star, who is now hosting Netflix’s Blue Ribbon Baking Championship, humorously stated that “no pies were harmed” during the filming of the baking competition, which he assures is “safe for family viewing” and is currently available on the streaming platform.

“I’ve really wanted to host something in the food world,” Biggs shared with USA Today. “Of course, there’s a nod to the audience with me as a baking show host. Whenever I’m at a loss for words, I always have a pie joke up my sleeve that never fails to amuse.”

The show’s debut comes right on the heels of last month’s milestone anniversary of Biggs’ breakout role in American Pie (1999). The iconic scene where his character, Jim, has an unusual encounter with an apple pie has been etched into pop culture.

“My life is very much defined by a few significant moments,” Biggs reflected. “There’s getting married and having kids. But in terms of craziness, the biggest shifts were Life Before American Pie and Life After American Pie.”

Although Biggs clarified that he’s “not actually judging” the competition, he “had to try everything” to understand what was going on. However, after the formal judging, he admits to going back and tasting everything for himself.

Despite keeping content family-friendly, Biggs doesn’t hold back with his quips. “Take it from someone who knows. That is a very attractive pie,” he jokes in one of the episodes.

American Pie also featured Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nicholas, and Eddie Kaye Thomas as high school friends aiming to lose their virginities before graduation. The teen comedy included a star-studded cast with Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Natasha Lyonne, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari, Shannon Elizabeth, Jennifer Coolidge, and Eugene Levy.

The success of the movie led to sequels such as American Pie 2 (2001), American Wedding (2003), and American Reunion (2012). It also spawned many loosely-related spinoffs that were released directly to video, although these did not feature the original cast.
