Jazz Star Grandma Soothes Infant Grandson with Enchanting Clarinet Solo

Soothing a crying baby isn’t always easy, but some people have a magic touch. Jazz musician Doreen Ketchens, known for her clarinet prowess, holds nicknames like Lady Louie, Miss Satchmo, and The Female Louis Armstrong. While she has many fans, none seem to love her music quite as much as her grandson.

A viral video of Doreen playing You Are My Sunshine for her grandson is heartwarming. She performs an upbeat version of the tune while the little boy nestles on her shoulder. Clearly happy, he feels his grandmother’s love through her touch and beautiful music.

Doreen effortlessly plays her clarinet as the baby rocks along, showing the immense love and sweetness in their interaction. It’s easy to tell they’re both in heaven.

The Jazz Estate shared the video on Instagram, quickly gaining widespread attention.

One person wrote, “Oh my gosh, I ADORE this!”

Another fan commented, “Sweetest thing ever!”

Someone else agreed, “That is one blessed child!”

According to her website, Doreen has appeared on numerous radio and television shows. She recently earned her doctorate in music from Five Towns College in Long Island, New York. Doreen’s love language is her music, and she aims to share that joy with as many people as possible.

“Her intense passion gets under your skin and transports you to a new place. Be it Gospel, Blues, R&B, Classical, or Jazz. Dr. Doreen Ketchens can rock her clarinet on many levels and sing like a songbird on a sunny day.”

For Doreen’s grandson, all she has to do is pick up her clarinet to make everything right in the world again.
